More than 4,000 posters were presented at the IADR/PER General Session

The IADR General Session delivered on that promise. Those attending the General Session could choose from among 5,066 total presentations (4,002 posters, 935 oral presentations, 32 symposia, 29 Lunch & Learning sessions, five hands-on-workshops and three Distinguished Lecture Series presentations), and 46 companies represented. As a result of the record number of abstracts submissions, an additional poster session was added to the schedule to accommodate the additional abstracts. There were four industry-sponsored symposia (Johnson & Johnson, Colgate-Palmolive Co., 3M ESPE and the Forsyth Institute 100^th Anniversary).

The 88^th General Session & Exhibition of the International Association for Dental Research and 5^th General Session of the Pan European Region of the IADR took place July 14-17, 2010, at the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona, Spain. As the largest IADR General Session in history, this meeting attracted 6,973 people from 90 countries. Prior to the meeting, IADR then President David M. Williams released a statement in response to the record-breaking number of abstracts received. “It is heartening to see, at a time when the news is dominated by talks of pressure on research funding, that the research community has responded to the invitation to come to Barcelona in such an emphatic fashion. This strong interest in oral, dental and craniofacial research from around the world demonstrates the IADR General Session provides an important venue for the presentation and exchange of research findings and professional networking. This promises to be a truly outstanding meeting.”
