The behavioral and social sciences are integral to oral health research and in a system approach to address health issues. No one who attended the NIH honorary symposium for Dr. Lois K. Cohen on December 11, 2006, would dispute this fact. Indeed, the symposium was a tribute to Dr. Cohen for her leadership in engaging the social sciences in dental research and expanding interdisciplinary oral health research around the globe.
