Women who have dental X-rays while pregnant may be at higher risk of having babies with low birth weights, researchers say.Writing in The Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers from the University of Washington in Seattle said that among women they studied, those with low-weight babies were twice as likely to have had multiple dental X-rays. The average salary for an NHS dentist has topped £100,000 for the first time.

Their pay soared by around 13 per cent last year  -  nearly three times the rate of inflation  -  following the new contract introduced by the Government to improve efficiency. (more…)

International leader strengthens ties with MCG

Nobel Biocare joins forces with School of Dentistry


A $6.2 million contract between MCG and Nobel Biocare, a leading manufacturer of dental implants and equipment, will strengthen the school’s educational and research mission, school officials say.

Of the contract total, $4.2 million will be funneled through the School of Dentistry to fund programs including educational enrichment workshops and clinical research trials. Another $2 million will be used by MCG Visual and Instructional Design Services to create a digitally based educational program for international distribution. (more…)

The first inflatable dentist surgery is set to tour Britain undercutting the hefty prices charged by private dentists.Hungarian practitioners using the latest equipment will offer treatments for half the price of their UK counterparts.Such is the team’s confidence, they believe the whistle-stop tour of major towns and cities will attract thousands of patients who have been unable to register with an NHS dentist or cannot afford to travel abroad for treatment.
